Today I’m wearing Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel. It was given to me by one of the first students I ever taught, I teach graphic design part time to A level kids, we had some incredible students on our first year, all just the sweetest boys. He wrote me a lovely card with it, which I’ll keep forever, saying ‘Thank you for believing in me.’ I’d never tried the perfume before but instantly loved it.
My other perfume is Aqua Admirabilis, by the Caffe Florian in Venice, A year or two ago my lovely husband took me to Venice on the Orient Express. We had a fantastic time and spent hours looking at our favourite building, the Olivetti showroom, by Carlo Scarpa. In the same square is Caffe Florian, where we stopped for coffee and I started reading about the man who’d designed the fragrances specifically for the cafe (Lorenzo Dante Ferro). It was for sale in the back of the cafe, so I bought some. It’s a sweet floral and comes with a very naff Murano glass bead thing on the top, but I love it because every time I wear it I get transported back to Venice.
