Who: Judy Blame, designer and stylist and London sub-culture legend. We caught up with Judy at the Jo Malone London flagship boutique, where, from June 1st, his iconic decorative box design, inspired by London’s pearly king and queen tradition, is available with all 100ml cologne purchases.
Today I’m wearing my favourite Jo Malone London perfume, Oud & Bergamot. I love the candles too, I’m a big incense fan and that’s what really drew me to my first Jo Malone London perfume, I’ve got lots of the candles as my home scents.
With the London Box project, I was a bit daunted at first, it’s such a classic design. the Jo Malone London packaging, what should I do? They gave me loads of empty boxes at first, so I could just stare at them for a while. The more I looked at it and thought about it, the idea of using the pearly king and queen idea fitted very comfortably. Jo Malone London were looking for something that was very British and London inspired, it says Jo Malone London on the box and ‘pearly’ is such a London tradition. it fitted together very well.
Perfume is the icing on the cake for me, I like to spend time with my wardrobe, and it just is that final flourish before you go out the door, to make you feel complete.
