Who: Adam Reed, Hairdresser and co founder of Percy & Reed. Not only is Adam Reed a great hairdresser, having tended the locks of many a superstar, he is also a passionate perfume fan. He grew up wearing perfume from an early age, braving the taunts and bullying at school and now has a vast knowledge of scent. Although he emphatically claims not to be an expert, his enthusiasm makes him hugely popular with his clients, who love to sample his latest ‘finds’ while in the salon chair.
Today I am wearing Le Labo Santal 33 and Vetiver 46 mixed together. I love Santal, but I also like the dirtiness of Vetiver and I like to smell like no one else, so I always layer. I normally wear Diptyque 34 Boulevard Saint Germain and layer something on top, but today I wanted that dirty vetiver-i-ness of the Le Labo and the fresh sandalwood of the Santal.
I was taught really young to spray fragrance into the air and allow it to fall onto you. So that’s my ritual, I spray both fragrances into the air and then walk into them. And I never reapply, because i like it when the perfume gets a little bit worn in.
I also fragrance my house with 34 Boulevard Saint Germain too, I have a diffuser in every room, they are incredible, I love Diptyque candles too, I think they are the best candles, so depending on my mood I use them to fragrance the house. We fragrance the salons with 34 Boulevard Saint Germain.
My customers absolutely ask me for advice and I love to give it, if they are interested. At my desk I have a whole selection of perfumes and they seem to love it. Everyone knows I love perfume and everyone wants a bit of advice.
