Who: Alexander Vreeland, founder of Diana Vreeland Parfums. Alexander has inherited his grandmother’s enthusiasm for scent (although as far as we know he doesn’t inject his sofas with perfume, as Mrs Vreeland was known to do) and enough of her charm, style and dry wit to be excellent and engaging company. We caught up with him in town recently where he talked to us about the delicious new super-charged Outrageous range.
Today I’m wearing the Outrageous version of Daringly Different, from the Diana Vreeland Parfums collection. It’s a very sexy, powerful oud, with wonderful balance between oud and iris. It has tremendous presence and the dry down is very slow and lengthy. It’s a fragrance inspired by my grandmother’s love of Morocco. She loved to go to Morocco, she loved to discover the colours and the scents and of course, the people and all of that enthusiasm for the sensual, passionate and powerful flavours that she discovered there goes into the scent.
My grandmother had such a passionate relationship with perfume that she couldn’t imagine leaving the house without wearing fragrance, or being in a room without fragrance or having an office without fragrance. Both room fragrance and body fragrance and scented objects were part of her entire life, it was baked into everything she did, she couldn’t imagine in not being part of her life.
She loved really luxurious, beautiful fragrances, it was never a case of it being a light fragrance you couldn’t really tell if it was there, that was not the goal. the goals was always for it to be there, to be present and for it to be outrageous.I spray with lots of abandon!
