Who: Andrea Valdo, sales and marketing director. Andrea has worked in fragrance for years, most recently at his family’s respected perfume and cosmetics distribution company. He launched Jusbox, his first own-line fragrance, with his sister Chiara. The four-scent range – which is heavily inspired by music – is supremely competent for a first time collection, with glorious attention to detail. We love the elegant, heavy bottles with their vinyl inspired tops and the LP shaped tester blotters. By tagging each of the four scents to a musical decade, the range offers an easy entry point for those who might be looking for a fragrance but don’t know where to start. Who could resist a scent inspired by their favourite music?
Today I’m wearing Beat Cafe by Jusbox, a fragrance that was created by my favourite perfumer Dominic Rupion. It’s inspired by the Beat Generation, the music of Bob Dylan in the 60s and the cafes that cool kids hung out in during the 60s. It has notes of tobacco, cognac and woody vetiver, i really like woody, spicy fragrances and this has worked out really well.
Fragrance for me means self confidence and elegance, it’s about feeling good.
I have a fragrance spraying ritual that comes from my father, he sprays the fragrance upwards, into the air and all over the body. And he uses a lot of fragrance, spraying around himself two or three times. I learned my father likes to really smell the scent! I do too and so every time I spray, I do the same.
